Time to dive into the fun world of modern farmhouse wallpaper that’s budget-friendly. I love that the old trend is making its way back and in a big way.
I know we have all heard the horror stories about removing the paper or trying to cover it up but that’s simply not the case anymore. There are so many different types of wall coverings and nowadays they are removable.
I am going to share with you my favorite farmhouse wall coverings with tons of pictures because I love pictures and sharing inspiration with my readers. This post does contain affiliate links and I may earn a small commission if you choose to make a purchase. But it makes sharing the links to buy easier for you!

How to Install Peel and Stick Wallpaper
I highly recommend only buying the stick and peel wallpaper from Spoonflower. No paste or glue and is prepositional and easily removed. I’ve tested this myself before.
Below are instructions straight from the pros and a helpful video too!
GET A FRIEND & COLLECT YOUR MATERIALS
Hanging wallpaper is a two-person job! Grab a friend to help! You’ll also need a sharp utility knife, extra blades and the squeegee included with your order.
PREPARE YOUR PAPER
Re-roll your wallpaper so that the top is on the outside of the roll. The top of each strip has no white space, whereas the bottom has a narrow line of white and is printed with your order number. Don’t trim any part of the paper before hanging.
PREPARE YOUR WALL
The wall or surface to which you are applying wallpaper should be smooth, dry, clean and free of dust. Patch any damaged areas of the wall, especially where sharp edges might pierce or tear the wallpaper. For best results, apply wallpaper to a surface that is a solid, light color. If your wall has been recently painted, allow at least 4+ weeks for the paint to cure before applying wallpaper. Applying wallpaper over uncured paint can lead to bubbling.
START AT THE LEFT EDGE OF YOUR WALL
If you’re applying multiple strips of wallpaper, hang them from LEFT to RIGHT to ensure a smooth repeat of the design across the wall. Start with the upper left corner of the room, wall, or another surface you’re wallpapering. If covering an entire room, choose an inconspicuous corner to begin since the repeat will likely not match up on the final seam.
APPLY THE FIRST STRIP
Pick up the first strip and peel away a few inches of the paper backing from the top of the roll. Fold the backing paper away from the adhesive and crease it, giving you a few inches of tack to begin your application. Don’t unroll the full length of the roll yet — you’ll want to support the roll and unpeel it slowly as you go. Align the top of the wallpaper with the ceiling, making sure it is straight and even on the wall. Ask your friend to step back and check that the strip is straight and your design elements are level, then press the exposed adhesive area against the wall. Spoonflower’s Woven Wallpaper is repositionable, so if you need to adjust the placement simply peel the paper off the wall slowly and reapply as necessary.
Once the top of the strip is in position, gently peel the paper backing down 5-10 inches at a time and smooth the wallpaper onto the wall, moving from the center outwards. If necessary, use the squeegee to move large air bubbles to the edge of the design, being careful not to scratch your design.
Pick up your second strip of wallpaper and apply it so that its left side overlaps the right side of the previous strip by approximately ¾ inch, carefully visually matching the repeat. Do not trim the overlap; it guarantees that the wallpaper will repeat seamlessly. (Figure A) Repeat this step, moving from left to right and aligning each new strip over the strip to its left.
Once you’ve applied all strips, use a sharp utility knife to trim any excess at the edges of the wall and any excess paper on the right edge of your installation area. Now, stand back and admire your work!

How beautiful are these and they aren’t only for walls! I even added a photo of my own DIY filing cabinet makeover using my own grey floral designed wallpaper.
