Mielado is an unusual term which causes people’s interest as it refers to peculiar attributes and cultural value. What is Mielado?

Mielado is a thick syrup like substance which is often produced from the nectar of flowers or any other sweet material. Despite the similar appearance to honey it is different in its production and its quality. Of the two, the term “mielado” is used in Spanish speaking regions and may mean different sweet syrups according to region.

The term Mielado can refer to a bee’s honey as well as a syrup derived from plant saps and nectars, or honey like substance. The term “mielado” has its origin from the Spanish word, “miel” which stands for honey.

This is because it is sweet with a viscous consistency and resemble the nature of honey. Even though mielado could also be similar to honey, it is not always obtained from bees and it can be prepared from different plant sources.

Of course, meaning and usage of this word is different and largely depends from culture and region where it is used – often, these are names of specific plants and ways of cooking, inherited from ancestors.

Types of Mielado

According to the origin and the method of production, mielado can be categorized in the following subcategories. One of these is plant based mielado which is produced from the sap or nectar of plants. This type is most frequently used for boiling or being concentrated into a syrup, the hue and taste can also be different depending on the plant origin.

Another type of beer is honey based mielado which is sourced from bee that feeds on the flower nectar. Then, the nectar is transformed into honey, through the enzymatic action, and thus, this type is a closest to the regular honey.

In some parts of the world, especially the tropical areas, mielado may be used to refer to honey that has a slightly different texture and probably tastes different due to the raw materials available in the region.

Because of its moderation, there are various benefits of taking Mielado contains moderate amount of honey which provides several health benefits, thus being healthy for the body when taken responsibly.

For children, they can be eaten anytime while for adults they are can be used as sports energy bars since they are easy to digest due to natural occurring sugars. It also comprises antioxidants to fight against the free radicals and prevent inflammation in the body leading to enhanced health.

Furthermore, some types of mielado’s have inherent antimicrobial effects hence they are used to heal open wounds and boost the immune system. Such properties make mielado’s not only a sweetening agent but also a Nutraceutical food product with many nutritional benefits.
